Visits and notes

Working through a visit in the practice portal: the readings, the results and the notes a clinician writes and signs at the end.

  1. Open a visitOpen a visit for a patient who has arrived, and find your way around its tabs.
  2. Move a patient to the next stage of their visitSay where a patient is in their visit, so the whole team sees who is waiting and who is being seen.
  3. Record readings at a visitRecord blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight and other readings against a patient's visit.
  4. Write and sign a noteWrite a consultation note from a template during a visit, check it, and sign it.
  5. Correct a signed noteCorrect a note that has already been signed, with the reason, while the original stays on the record.
  6. Record a prescriptionWrite a prescription during a visit, check it, and issue it.
  7. Record a test sent to an outside laboratoryRecord a request sent to an outside laboratory, type in the report when it comes back, and record that a clinician has read it.
  8. Complete a visitClose a visit when the patient has been seen, so they leave the list of people in the building.
  9. Open an antenatal visitOpen an antenatal visit and, for a new pregnancy, the pregnancy episode that follows it.
  10. Admit a patient to the ward and discharge themAdmit a patient from their visit, find them on the admissions register, and discharge them with a summary.
  11. See the note templatesRead the templates your practice writes notes from, and which headings each needs before a note can be signed.
  12. Make your practice's own note templateCopy a note template, rename it and add, remove or require headings, so notes are written the way your practice works.
  13. Share a signed note with the patientLet a patient, or the parent who reads a child's records, open a signed note on the patient portal.
  14. Stop sharing a note with the patientTake a shared note off the patient portal, with the reason, so the patient can no longer open it online.
