Request imaging and attach the images
Ask for an X-ray, scan or other study, attach the images that come back, and type in the report.

Use a request for imaging when a patient needs an X-ray, an ultrasound scan or another study, whether it is done in your hospital or elsewhere.
Steps
- Open the patient's visit and choose the External labs tab.
- Choose Request imaging.
- Fill in Imaging centre or department, Study requested and Reason and clinical summary, then choose Record this request.
- When you have the images, find the request and choose Attach an image. Take a photograph or choose a file, say what it shows, and choose File it.
- Choose Open it beside an image to look at it.
- When the report comes back, choose Transcribe the imaging report and type it in. A clinician then records reading it.
What to expect
An image can be a JPEG, PNG or WebP picture or a PDF of up to 5 MB. A phone photograph saved as HEIC needs to be taken again as a JPEG. Files from an imaging machine in its own format cannot be attached; export a picture or a PDF from it.
Attached images also show on the patient's Paper tab as Imaging study. An image attached by mistake is withdrawn from there with a reason and stays listed.
Attaching and opening images need an internet connection. The request and the typed report can be recorded without one.
