Hospital billing software and accounting software: define the handover
Distinguish patient invoices and collections from the wider accounting work of a hospital, then ask how the records move between the staff responsible.

A billing screen can show what a patient owes without producing everything the hospital's accountant needs. Before asking whether one system handles accounts, describe the records and decisions included in that word.
This guide concerns software scope and the administrative handover. The hospital's accountant should decide its accounting policies, financial statements and statutory reporting requirements.
Start with the patient bill
Billing work commonly follows charges, received payments and remaining patient balances. The relevant questions include which patient and invoice a payment belongs to, whether a charge was corrected and what a receptionist should explain at the next visit.
RizCare records services, invoices and staff-confirmed cash or transfer payments, including partial payments. It records the money staff confirm; it does not move it. A confirmed payment entry therefore still needs the hospital's authorised evidence of receipt.
Ask what the wider accounting work requires
The accountant may need expense records, supplier balances, payroll information, asset details and the policies used to prepare formal accounts. A patient billing total cannot answer all of those questions. Ask the accountant for the actual fields and periods needed rather than requesting a generic accounting report.
The FAO-hosted bookkeeping manual covers broader business records in a Liberia forestry context. It is background reading, not Nigerian healthcare accounting guidance.
For a fictional handover, the billing colleague supplies the dated invoice and payment records while the petty cash custodian supplies authorised expense references. The accountant checks the appropriate relationship between them. Putting both numbers in one spreadsheet does not establish that the accounts are complete.
Demonstrate the handover before buying
Ask the software supplier to show the report or export the accountant will receive, using fictional transactions. Check date boundaries, correction history and whether the recipient can follow a total back to its supporting entries. A sample with only fully paid invoices leaves the harder questions unanswered.
Use the data export assessment to record the evidence. Ask separately whether any advertised integration is available for the exact product and agreement being considered; do not infer it from the ability to download a file.
Have the accountant review the sample and list what remains missing. Give each gap an owner before describing the proposed software arrangement as covering the hospital's accounting work.
