Terms of service
These are the rules for using RizCare, for a hospital and for everyone who works in it. Your clinicians make every medical decision, and anything the assistant drafts is only a suggestion until a clinician checks it. We agree fees with each hospital, and Nigerian law applies.

Who are these terms between?
In short: RizCare Software Service and your hospital. Everyone at the hospital who uses RizCare follows them too.
RizCare is operated by RizCare Software Service. On this page, "RizCare", "we" and "us" mean RizCare Software Service. "The hospital" means the hospital or other organisation that holds a RizCare account. "You" means the hospital and each person who uses RizCare for it.
These terms are an agreement between us and the hospital. Everyone at the hospital who uses RizCare agrees to follow them as well. If the hospital has signed a separate written agreement with us, or accepted a written quotation, that document wins wherever it says something different.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data. It is part of these terms.
What is RizCare?
In short: software for running a hospital and keeping its records, in a browser or as an app.
RizCare is software for the everyday work of a hospital. It covers registration, appointments and walk-in queues, patient records and visits, clinical notes, prescriptions, lab requests and results, bills and recorded payments. A hospital can also switch on extras: maternity records, a basic admissions register, a drafting assistant and online access for its patients.
RizCare runs in a web browser and as an app you install. We look after the servers, the software and the emails it sends. We improve RizCare over time, and things will change. If we plan to remove something your hospital relies on, we will tell you first.
Who can have an account?
In short: adults your hospital has invited. One person, one account.
A hospital account is opened by someone with the authority to act for the hospital. A person at RizCare looks at every new hospital before it opens, and we can say no.
Each member of staff gets their own account, by invitation from the hospital. Accounts are for adults who work for or with the hospital and whom the hospital has approved. Never share your account, your password or your second sign-in step with anyone. If you think someone else has used your account, tell your hospital and us straight away.
The hospital decides who joins its team and what each person can do. When someone leaves, the hospital is responsible for removing their access.
What is the hospital responsible for?
In short: its patients' records, its medical decisions, and the people and devices it uses.
The hospital is in charge of its patients' records. It must have a legal basis for what it records. It must tell its patients how their information is used, including through its own privacy statement. And it must meet its other duties under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the National Health Act 2014 and any other law that applies to it.
Medical decisions stay with the hospital's clinicians. RizCare records what the team decides and does. It does not diagnose, choose treatment, prescribe or give medical advice.
The drafting assistant suggests text from what is already recorded for the visit in front of you. A draft can be wrong, or leave something out. It only becomes part of the record once a clinician has read it and accepted it. The clinician who accepts it is responsible for what it says.
The hospital is also responsible for:
- making sure what its staff record is correct;
- making sure its staff hold the qualifications and licences their work needs;
- protecting the devices it uses with RizCare, and the passwords that open them;
- having a plan for when a device, the power or the internet fails;
- deciding how long it keeps its patients' records.
Staff can add their appointments to their own calendar app. The hospital chooses how a patient appears there: by initials, not at all, or by full name. Those calendars are on staff members' own phones and accounts, which neither we nor the hospital manage. If the hospital chooses full names, it takes responsibility for patient names appearing in staff calendars. RizCare records who made that choice and when. Choosing initials or no name later takes the names out of every calendar when it next updates.
What must you not do?
In short: don't reach records you shouldn't, don't attack the service, and don't use it for anything unlawful.
When you use RizCare, you must not:
- try to reach another hospital's records, or records your hospital has not let you see;
- test, probe or get around RizCare's security, or disrupt how it works;
- copy, take apart or resell the software, unless the law allows it;
- upload anything harmful, such as a virus;
- record information about people your hospital has no reason to hold;
- use RizCare for anything unlawful, or to send messages people did not agree to receive.
If someone breaks these rules, we can suspend their access. The section on pausing or ending the service explains how.
How much does it cost, and how do you pay?
In short: an annual subscription we agree with each hospital, paid before setup starts.
RizCare is an annual subscription, agreed in writing with each hospital and priced by the size of the hospital. We do not publish a price. The hospital accepts our quotation and pays before we start setup, move its existing registers or train its staff. Prices do not include VAT or other taxes, which we add where the law requires.
If a payment is late, we will tell the hospital and may pause RizCare until it is paid. The hospital's records remain the hospital's while the service is paused.
When a hospital takes card payments from its patients through RizCare, the money belongs to the hospital. Our payment provider handles the card payment, and its own terms apply to the payment too.
What happens when the internet goes down?
In short: your devices keep working with the records they hold. Some things wait for the connection to come back.
We work hard to keep RizCare running, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. Sometimes we need to pause it for maintenance. We try to do that outside hospital hours.
When the internet drops, a device that has been set up for your hospital keeps the records it holds, and your team can keep working. RizCare shows which work is saved on the device and which the hospital has accepted. Saved work is shared when the connection returns. Some things need a connection: sharing work between devices, opening records that are not on the device, sending emails and using the drafting assistant.
If a device is lost, damaged or wiped before its work has been shared, that work may be lost with it. RizCare helps a hospital get through an outage. It does not replace a good internet connection or the hospital's own backup plan.
Who owns the hospital's records?
In short: the hospital does. We only use them to run RizCare for you.
The hospital owns its records. We only use them to run RizCare, as our privacy policy explains. We do not sell them, and we do not use them to train AI models. When the agreement ends, we agree with the hospital how its records are handed back and then removed, unless the law says we must keep them.
We keep the hospital's information confidential. Our staff and providers may only see it when their work needs it, and they must keep it confidential too.
Who owns RizCare itself?
In short: we do. The hospital gets the right to use it while its subscription runs.
RizCare, its software, its design and its name belong to us. While the hospital's subscription runs, the hospital and its staff may use RizCare for the hospital's own work. That right cannot be passed to anyone else.
The hospital keeps every right in what it records. It lets us hold and process that content only as far as we need to run RizCare. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
When can the service be paused or ended?
In short: the hospital can leave at the end of its term. We only pause or end access for a serious reason, and we warn you first when we can.
The hospital can stop using RizCare at the end of its subscription, or earlier if its agreement with us allows.
We can pause or end access, for one person or for the whole hospital, if:
- a fee is still unpaid after we have warned the hospital;
- someone seriously breaks these terms;
- there is a risk to the security of RizCare or of other hospitals' records;
- the law requires it.
Wherever we can, we will warn you first and tell you what to do to get access back.
When the service ends, access stops. The hospital's records are then handled as the section on who owns the hospital's records explains. We do not refund fees already paid, unless the hospital's agreement or the law says otherwise.
What are we not responsible for?
In short: medical decisions, what staff record, and events outside our control.
RizCare is software for keeping records and running a hospital. It is not meant to diagnose, treat or prevent disease, and nothing it shows is medical advice. We run it with reasonable skill and care. But, as far as the law allows, we do not promise that it will be free of mistakes, that it will suit every hospital's needs, or that a draft from the assistant will be correct.
We are not responsible for loss caused by:
- a medical decision;
- information the hospital's staff recorded, or failed to record;
- a draft a clinician accepted without checking it;
- events outside our reasonable control, such as a power cut, a failure of the national network, a natural disaster or government action.
How much can either side claim?
In short: our total liability is limited to what the hospital paid us in the last 12 months.
We are not liable for lost profit, revenue or goodwill, or for any loss that was indirect or could not have been foreseen.
Apart from that, the most we will pay the hospital for everything to do with RizCare, in any 12 months, is the amount the hospital paid us in those 12 months.
If someone makes a claim against us because the hospital broke these terms or the law in using RizCare, the hospital will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that Nigerian law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or injury caused by negligence.
Which law applies, and how do we settle a dispute?
In short: Nigerian law. We talk first, and go to court only if that fails.
Nigerian law governs these terms. If we disagree about something, we will first try to settle it by talking with the hospital. If we cannot settle it within 30 days, either side can take it to the courts of Nigeria.
How will we tell you about changes?
In short: by email, at least 30 days before a change that affects you.
When the terms change, we update this page and the date at the top of it. We email hospitals at least 30 days before a change that affects them. If a hospital keeps using RizCare after that date, it accepts the new terms. If it does not accept them, it can stop using RizCare before they start.
How do you reach us?
In short: email support@riz.care.
Email support@riz.care about these terms, or about anything else to do with RizCare.
