A software ticket should not hold up urgent hospital work
Separate the software support report from the hospital response to interrupted work, with a named support contact and the clinical escalation route.

A screen stops responding while staff are working. Someone needs to report the software problem, and the hospital needs to decide how the affected work continues. Assign those responsibilities explicitly so the whole team does not wait for a support reply.
Clinical urgency belongs to the responsible clinical team and its established procedures. This article sets no clinical thresholds and gives no treatment advice. It explains the administrative handover around a software interruption.
Establish what is affected
The designated hospital lead asks which task has stopped, which staff are affected and whether another approved route is available. A problem on one device may differ from a practice-wide interruption. Keep that observation factual rather than announcing that all records have been lost because one search failed.
The clinical team follows its agreed care escalation and downtime arrangements. Staff doing the affected administrative work preserve the references needed to reconcile it later. They should not repeat a payment, erase browser storage or create replacement patient records as a general troubleshooting step.
Give support a useful report
One authorised contact gathers the time, device reference, affected task and sanitised error information. Use the software issue worksheet and the agreed support channel. Keep patient details and credentials out of a general ticket.
Record the acknowledgement separately from any promised investigation or correction. A message saying the ticket was received does not establish that the task works again. Tell staff who will provide the next update so they do not each start another support conversation about the same event.
AHRQ's workflow toolkit is background for assigning tasks and handovers. The split above is our recommendation for coordinating an interruption.
Check the return to ordinary work
The authorised lead verifies the relevant task through the supported process before announcing recovery. Ask whether pending work still needs reconciliation and who will check it. In RizCare, work saved on one device and work accepted by the practice are distinct states; a connection returning does not justify treating every entry as accepted.
Use the downtime drill record to practise the administrative roles with fictional data. Carry any unresolved action into the next shift with an accepting colleague and its original support reference.
